Intel buys Rivet Networks

Intel buys Rivet Networks

Intel has announced that it has incorporated Rivet Networks, the owner of the Killer brand, with which it has been partnering on wired and wireless network technologies for a long time.

Intel and Rivet's Networks have been partners for years, although they are rivals in connectivity technologies. Benefiting from each other's technologies, the company now unites under one roof.

Giant merger

Rivet Networks, the developer of Killer wired and wireless connectivity solutions that we remember from player systems, had many different technologies for more efficient use of the network. Intel did not want to lose this efficient partner.

Research shows that there is an average of 11 WiFi-connected devices in each home. On mobile devices, 70 percent of internet traffic moves via the WiFi chip. There was also a 283 percent increase in video conferencing times due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Rivet Networks will be part of Intel's Wireless Solutions group and will work to develop more efficient wireless technologies on PC platforms. While it is stated that the Killer brand will continue for a while, what will happen next is not yet known. The purchase price was not disclosed. With the merger, Intel has become the largest brand in the connectivity solutions industry.
